      The Russian Premier League is played in a double loop of home and away matches, with the winning team earning 3 points and the losing team earning no points. In the draw, each team earns 1 point, and the final ranking is determined by the number of points earned. For matches with the same score, the ranking is determined by the points earned in each other's matches. If the points earned in each match are the same, the ranking is determined by the number of wins, goals scored, away goals scored, total wins, total goals scored, and total away goals scored. The league champion will participate in the group stage of the next season's Champions League, the second place team will participate in the Champions League qualification round, the third and fourth place teams will participate in the next season's UEFA Europa League, and the last two teams will be relegated to the first tier league. The bottom 3 and 4 teams will play a two legged promotion/relegation playoff against the third and fourth placed teams in the Russian Premier League. The winning team will participate in the Russian Premier League next season. (UEFA and FIFA issued a joint announcement on March 1, 2022, prohibiting the Russian national team and clubs from participating in FIFA and UEFA events, therefore there are no European competition spots for the 2022-2023 season.)
